Why Every Indian Wedding Feels Like a Reality Show

If you think Bigg Boss has drama, you clearly haven’t attended an Indian wedding.

Because tell me, where else will you find every single genre of entertainment packed into a few days? You’ve got the tears during bidaai, the heated arguments between uncles about who’s handling the baarat, cousins fighting over dance steps, and aunties sitting like judges, rating every outfit and every performance. Honestly, the gossip corner at a wedding could put any TRP show to shame.

Then there’s the food counter—an entire episode of its own. People behaving like butter naan and gulab jamun are limited edition. Someone’s balancing three plates, someone’s already planning round two, and someone’s stuffing desserts in tissues “for later.” Be honest, half the guests didn’t even come for the couple—they came for the paneer.

The sangeet feels like a talent show gone wrong. Cousins dancing off-beat, mics not working, kids running onto the stage mid-performance—it’s pure chaos but in the most entertaining way. And just when you think the drama is over, there’s always that one relative who gets drunk and makes a scene.

In the middle of all this, somewhere between the lights, camera flashes, crying aunties, and “beta ek photo aur,” the actual wedding happens. The bride and groom quietly tie the knot while the rest of the family is still busy fighting over who gets the next round of chai.

Tell me one Indian wedding that doesn’t feel like a live season of drama, comedy, romance, and politics all mixed together. Exactly. You can’t.
