Bollywood Lied, College Life is Just a Series of PDFs and Panic Attacks

I walked into college with low expectations and still somehow overestimated everything. Thanks to Karan Johar. I didn’t think I’d be handed a crown like Student of the Year, but I also didn’t think my college experience would revolve around checking portals, renaming PDFs, and solving internal assignments that look like they were written by confused philosophers.

I mean, where’s the drama? Where are the neon-lit fests and designer wardrobes? My college life is more about reaching class with just enough time to find a decent seat, attending lectures seriously (yes, I do that), and getting dressed properly like a normal, functional human. Not in lehengas and tuxedos like they show in Bollywood.

Instead of love triangles and prom nights, we’ve got 20-slide presentations, awkward breakout rooms, and people bonding over “bhai isme kya likhna hai?”

No slow-mo entries. No choreographed dance in the canteen. No random boy handing me a rose for no reason. Just group chats that go from “guys chill” to “deadline aa gaya” in two seconds.

But even in this mess, there’s a strange kind of charm. Inside jokes with classmates, that relief when a professor cancels class, and the little wins when you submit something on time. It’s not cinematic, but it’s something.

Bollywood might have sold me a dream. But real college life? It’s a decent plot twist.

  1. Wow Shreya,

So relatable! You’ve captured the real charm of college life – chaos, deadlines, and little joys. Bollywood’s glam is fun, but your version feels real and comforting.
